President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a submission to dismiss Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin and appoint Vadym Prystaiko to this post. It was announced by Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Ruslan Riaboshapka during a briefing on June 11.

In addition, the Head of State announced a new competition for the selection of candidates for the post of judge of the European Court of Human Rights. Ruslan Riaboshapka noted that at the end of the term of the former President Petro Poroshenko, a competition had been announced, during which an extremely short deadline had been set for filing documents – 5 business days.

“There were many complaints that people did not have time to submit documents. This contest has been blocked in courts,” he said.

Hence, Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree announcing a new competition.

“I would like to urge all those willing, who meet the requirements, to apply for the competition that will be held starting from the day of the official publication of the decree, that is, from tomorrow,” Ruslan Riaboshapka said.

The Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration underlined that the order of filing documents had been simplified in the new competition. Instead, the requirements of the previous competition were complicated. Thus, the candidate had to know two official languages, although this was contrary to the recommendations of the Council of Europe. There was also a requirement for mandatory notarization of documents.

“This was abolished. In addition, the deadline for submission of documents was extended to 30 days,” Ruslan Riaboshapka concluded.
