Belvoir presents the long-awaited Sydney premiere of award-winning playwright, Andrew Bovell’s family drama, Things I Know to be True.
Featuring a line up of the country’s most talented stage actors, the show tells of one year in the life of an Australian family.
The Prices aren’t from the top end of town, but they’re not battlers either – Fran and Bob have brought up four children and kept their sense of humour.
Now with the kids grown and moved away, it should be time for Fran and Bob to stop and smell Bob’s precious roses. But just when things should be slowing down, the complicated lives of all four offspring come crashing through the brick veneer walls to shake the foundation of the Price’s happy home.
With plate-dropping family revelations, love pangs, and the sweet pain of finding out the truth, Things I Know To Be True is a beautifully crafted play from the ever-rewarding mind of Andrew Bovell (Lantana, When the Rain Stops Falling, The Secret River).
Former Belvoir Artistic Director, and current joint-Artistic Director of the Adelaide Festival, Neil Armfield (Cloudstreet), returns to Belvoir for the first time in eight years. Once again he takes a masterful script by celebrated, multi-award-winning playwright, Andrew Bovell and creates a unique and genuine Australian family drama full of humour, colour and complexity.
With Miranda Daughtry (STC’s Three Sisters, ), Tom Hobbs (MTC’s Macbeth), Matt Levett (A Place to Call Home), Tony Martin (STC’s Mojo, ABC TV’s Wildside and TV’s Blue Murder), Anna Lise Phillips (Belvoir’s The Dark Room, The Spook) and Helen Thomson (Belvoir’s HIR, STC’s Mary Stuart).
