Thousands of families across Plymouth will find out today which primary school their children will be going to in September.

The latest figures show that 98.63 per cent of city children (2,733) who applied on time, were allocated a place at one of their preferred schools.

Letters and emails confirming school places for September 2019 have been sent to parents and schools have also been given the admission information relating to their children.

Parents must respond to their allocation of a school place for their child within the next three weeks. For those that applied for their place online, the easiest way to respond is through their online account. If parents do not make a response, the allocated place could be withdrawn and offered to someone else.

Service Director for Education and Skills Judith Harwood said: “We’re extremely pleased that yet again we have been able to match the overwhelming majority of young people with their first preference for primary school. We understand how emotive the decision of schooling is for parents and our school admissions team aims to match as many parent’s requests as they possibly can but it is not always possible to offer your child a place in your preferred school.

“If we were unable to allocate to your first, second or third preference and offered you an alternative which you either need further information about or would like to know about other alternative options please contact us; we work with individual families to support them in finding the right school for their child.”

Parents are also being reminded that for any school they ranked higher than the one allocated, their child will automatically be placed on a waiting list for that school and will be considered if a vacancy comes up between now and the start of the school year.
