General of the Army Sergey Shoigu, Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, and Grigory Ivliev, head of Rospatent, signed an Agreement on cooperation in the field of intellectual property protection.
“The use of advanced developments in the creation of domestic weapons and the practice of using the troops gave a powerful impetus to the development of our Armed Forces, significantly increased their combat capabilities,” said the head of the military department at the signing ceremony.
According to Sergei Shoigu, right now, when there are more and more modern weapons systems that have no analogues in the world, the issues of legal protection of the results of intellectual activity are of particular importance.
“In this work we intend to actively interact with Rospatent. I am confident that our Agreement will be an important step in establishing constructive cooperation in the interests of strengthening defense and ensuring state security, ”the Minister of Defense emphasized.
In turn, the head of Rospatent noted that the Agreement reflects the main issues of cooperation between the two departments.
According to Grigory Ivliev, the developments that are carried out in the military-industrial complex are of great importance for the whole country.
“The development work carried out on the order of the Ministry of Defense determines the technological development of the whole country. To provide legal protection for the results of this activity, to introduce them into civilian circulation, to secure them to the Russian Federation is a common task for us, ”the head of Rospatent noted.
In his opinion, “The agreement will make this work not just effective, but very effective.”
The work of the Russian Ministry of Defense with Rospatent became especially active several years ago, when scientific companies were established in the Armed Forces. Currently, more than 600 people are serving in the 16 scientific companies under military service. To date, they have received more than 110 patents for inventions, developed about 1,300 innovation proposals, over 900 applied mathematical models, software modeling complexes, special software algorithms, and about 2,800 scientific articles published.
