Source: Federal Ministry of Food and AgricultureOn the occasion of the International Green Week, the European mini-cooks Eifel visited the German capital. The children’s program included various performances.
First, the Eifel member of parliament and patron of mini-chefs Patrick Schnieder welcomed the children in the German Bundestag, where the mini-cooks inspired selected guests with culinary specialties from the Eifel. Schnieder confirms afterwards: “The mini chefs are not only a wonderful figurehead for the Eifel, but also ambassadors for regionally produced food and healthy food. This means they are at the same time the most grateful patronage that a Member of the Bundestag can have. “After a visit to the capital on Friday, the Green Week, the international exhibition for food, agriculture and horticulture, has been taking place on Saturday 93 years in Berlin. Under the eyes of the professional chefs Thomas Herrig (Gasthaus Herrig, Meckel) and Tobias Stadtfeld (Heidsmühle in Manderscheid), the mini cooks made a joint appearance with the Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture Julia Klöckner. The Minister emphasized the importance of the project: “The knowledge of How to cook your own food quickly and easily is especially important when the ability to make ready-to-eat foods is getting easier. The sooner this knowledge and fundamentals of healthy nutrition are taught, the better – changing the eating habits later on is often difficult. Children should therefore learn where our food comes from, develop an awareness of how to eat a balanced diet. In short, cooking promotes nutritional competence, and that’s exactly what mini-cooks are all about – practical and concrete. That’s why I’m happy to support the project, “says Klöckner. Schnieder was also impressed by the performance of the mini-chefs:” My thanks go to the children who showed their skills to a large audience. The children can clearly enjoy the joy of preparing and serving. “Schnieder also thanked Stefan Kohler of Eifel Tourismus GmbH for organizing and accompanying the project.
