Headline: Federal Asylum Centers: Accommodation in compliance with human rights, room for improvement in individual areas
The National Commission for the Prevention of Torture (NKVF) reviewed the Asylum Centers in 2017 and 2018 and today publishes its findings and recommendations in an overall report. The accommodation of persons seeking asylum by the Confederation is, in the Commission’s assessment, fundamentally compatible with human rights and fundamental rights. The Commission considers the access to contacts with relatives, which has been facilitated since the lifting of the general ban on mobile phones, to be particularly positive. Nevertheless, the Commission sees room for improvement in certain areas, including the handling of physical searches, disciplinary measures, the identification of victims of trafficking and vulnerable persons, and access to basic psychiatric care.
