Q: Will France welcome, along with other European countries, some of the 49 migrants who have been stranded for more than two weeks off Malta on two German NGO ships? Why has not an agreement so far been found to let them land?

A: A European solution has been found to distribute more than 200 migrants, recently rescued in Malta or on board the two ships Sea Watch 3 and Professor-Albrecht-Penck. The ships will land in Malta and their passengers will be supported by several European countries: France, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Romania. Representatives of OFPRA will visit Malta in the coming days. France has defended and allowed the implementation of this collective solution in accordance with the principles that it steadfastly advocates: landing boats in the most secure harbor. close ; Solidarity in the reception of people in need of protection. It remains indispensable to set up a sustainable mechanism at European level following these principles of responsibility and solidarity, while strengthening the fight against trafficking in human beings and smugglers. . France, together with Germany, made new proposals to revive the revision of the Dublin Regulation.
