Q: How do you react to the Human Rights Watch report that accuses the Kurdish regional government in Iraq, a partner in the fight against the Islamic State, of torturing children to admit their links with the group?

A: We have read the facts reported by Human Rights Watch. France demands respect in all circumstances for the absolute prohibition of torture and for the right to a fair trial. Children are still the first victims of torture. Conflicts. In this regard, France draws the attention of the international community to new threats to children, including early indoctrination and the use of children as weapons of war.230 million children live in countries or areas experiencing armed conflict and 15 million of them are directly affected by the fighting. We call for universal ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and its protocol on children in armed conflict.
