Tax-free overtimeVoting on December 21 at the National Assembly, the tax exemption for overtime applies as of January 2019, instead of September as originally planned. Specifically, the remuneration of the additional hours worked (up to € 5,000 net per year) by employees or civil servants will be exempt from income tax up to € 5,000 net per year. “We made the choice of a tax exemption, in addition to a withdrawal of employee contributions, so that the impact on the purchasing power of employees is maximum,” said the Prime Minister. The gain will amount to 455 euros per year on average for an employee earning 1,500 euros net per month.

Age limit for apprenticeship The maximum age limit for apprenticeship is now 29 years old, compared to 25 years ago.

Cancellation of the increase of the CSG for half of the pensioners impacted in 2018 For the pensioners whose monthly net pension is lower than 2 000 euros (for a retired person alone and without other income), the rate of levy of the CSG will go back from 8, 3% to 6.6%. Increase in the minimum old age The ASPA (Solidarity allowance for the elderly) is increased on January 1, 2019. Its monthly amount therefore increases from 833.20 euros to 868.20 euros, an increase of 35 euros for a single person. For a couple, the amount of ASPA is increased by 54.34 euros, and will reach 1,347.88 euros per month. As a reminder, the minimum old age will reach 900 euros per month on 1 January 2020.
