President of the Republic of Latvia Raimonds Vejonis will participate in the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the First World War in Paris, France on November 10, 11th, 11th, 2009. During this time, Latvia gained such invaluable allies as France, England, Poland and Estonia. With their support, we won victory in the struggle for independence. How then did our allies today support Latvia. Celebrating the end of the First World War, we will honor the values that unite us yet – freedom, democracy and people’s right to self-determination, “emphasizes the President. At the end of the visit, Raimonds Vējonis will make a symbolic gift of the book to the Paris Peace Library. The 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War Heads of more than 80 countries and governments, as well as international organizations, will take part in the events in Paris.
