Studded tires, chains, snow tires … Before the winter season, find with Road Safety all you need to know about the tire issue when you hit the road.

Chains are only permitted on snow-covered roads, regardless of the time of year, and on sections of road with the B26 signal required special equipment.

mandatory in Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden and Slovenia;
mandatory under certain conditions in Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, Norway, Czech Republic, Romania and Slovakia;
not mandatory unless signposting in Spain, France and Italy;
non-compulsory in Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Poland, Portugal, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
