The profession of a police officer is one of the most dangerous occupations in today’s world. Confronting criminals, police officers expose their lives to huge risks every day. Unfortunately, this causes combat losses.
At the meeting with the families of the officers killed on duty that had taken place the day before, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation General of Police of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kolokoltsev noted that 37 officers of the internal affairs bodies had been killed on duty in 2018. At the moment of mortal danger, all of them remained loyal to the oath and demonstrated fortitude and courage. Many of them were posthumously granted high state awards.
Since 2011 subject to the order of the Russian MIA, November 8 is the Police Officers Memorial Day. Today, the Ministry’s divisions hold events dedicated to this day. Police officers meet with relatives of their killed colleagues, visit the heroes’ graves and carry out the ceremonies of laying wreaths to the memorials.
