A man has been charged following a fatal collision in Truganina on Sunday morning.
It is alleged a Ford Territory was travelling along Hopkins Road when it overtook a Honda SUV and collided head-on with a Ford Focus about 12am on 8 July.
The Territory then also collided with the Honda SUV.
The 41-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the Ford Territory was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Five occupants in the Honda SUV were not injured.
A man and woman with two children were travelling in the Ford Focus.
A 10-year-old girl from that vehicle died at the scene.
A 4-year-old boy from that vehicle has died in hospital yesterday evening.
The female driver remains in a critical condition while the male passenger was released from hospital.
The driver of the Territory, a Rockbank man who remains in hospital, was charged this evening with negligence causing serious injury and two counts of culpable driving.
Police will attend Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this evening to make a remand application.
