Royal Air Force personnel deployed in Romania have been lending a hand at the local beach in Constanta, to take part in a beach clean-up as part of a Japanese led environmental action group in Romania.

Commanding Officer of 135 Expeditionary Air Wing (EAW), Wing Commander Chris Ball, and RAF personnel under his command were invited to join the public action volunteer group by the Mayor of Constanta, Decebal F?g?d?u.

Military personnel from the Romanian Air Force based at Mihail Kog?lniceanu (MK) Air Base, including the MK Base Commander Colonel Dodu, also joined the clean-up effort with the local community. Following the event Wing Commander Ball CO 135 EAW said:

“It was great to have this opportunity to meet and support the local community.  This kind of engagement is important to our peacetime NATO air policing mission, which is defensive in nature, and it was really pleasing to be so warmly welcomed to this event by all those we worked with.”

The Japanese business, KAIZEN ™ Institute, is working with the Constanta Council in Romania to promote environmental cleanliness in the Romanian society and teaching methods to improve city-wide social relationships. It involves the greening of public spaces in Romania in Japanese style according to the Kaizen philosophy.

For the 8th consecutive year, the KAIZEN Romania Institute and the KAIZEN Manager Club Association together with the Clean-Up Japan Association organize the 5S Public Actions within the KAIZEN ™ Education Program for Romania and this year, for the first time this kind of action took place in Constan?a, with the support of the City Hall of Constan?a.
