Press Release

Easton, PA – Today, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright announced that the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has awarded Lafayette College a $10,000 grant. The funds will be used to support the Williams Center for the Arts Jazz Series.

The project will comprise as many as five performances featuring musicians who will be appearing on the Williams Center stage for the first time or returning as leaders of their own ensembles having in the past been presented as sidemen. Ancillary educational and audience engagement activities may include master classes, open rehearsals, and lectures as well as pre- and post-performance discussions moderated by Lafayette College faculty.

“With this support from the NEA, Lafayette College can continue exploring and contributing to Easton’s diverse culture and rich history while also engaging its students,” said Rep. Cartwright. “I applaud Lafayette College for receiving this competitive award, and I will continue to be an advocate for investments in the arts, which enhances learning and supports a high quality of life.”
