“Before arrival of an ambulance, Police Senior Lieutenant Denis Sivonenko performed resuscitation of a boy thus rescuing his life,” said the Russian MIA official representative Irina Volk.
Being on his day-off at the leisure base in the Apsheronsky District, inspector of a Road Patrol Service squad of the Russian MIA Division for the Dinskoy District Police Senior Lieutenant Denis Sivonenko heard a woman calling for help. Running up to the swimming pool, the policeman saw a three-year old boy on the water surface who was unconscious. The Road Patrol Service inspector dragged the kid out and immediately started first-aid treatment. Having cleared the child’s airway and understanding that the boy was suffering from asphyxia with blue discoloration of the lips and auricles, the officer started artificial lung ventilation and closed-chest cardiac massage. The resuscitation procedures lasted for about 20–30 minutes until the kid was able to breathe himself.
After that, the policeman helped the ambulance team to take the child into the ambulance car.
Two hours later, the relatives of the child thanked the inspector for the provided professional aid by phone. Medical specialists said that any delay or inaction could have cost the child’s life.
After the treatment in the regional hospital and then in the territorial hospital, the boy was released from the hospital; his family resides in the Krasnoarmeysky District. The kid invited his rescuer to celebrate the coming birthday.
Denis Sivonenko has been serving in the Traffic Police since 2009. The management of the Russian MIA Division for the Dinskoy District is currently considering the issue of awarding him.
