Headline: Gang involved in series of thefts of expensive cars was detained by police in Primorsky Territory
“Officers of the Criminal Investigation Administration of the Russian MIA General Administration for the Primorsky Territory together with servicemen of the Russian Guard detained a group of citizens involved in thefts of expensive cars. The offenders preselected expensive foreign-made cars and then stole them and drove them into a specially equipped garage where they changed identification numbers of the cars for their further sale. They stole a LEXUS ЕS-250 and a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado”, said the Russian MIA official representative Irina Volk.
After the victims’ complaint to the police, criminal police investigators carried out investigation and search operations, as a result of which five residents of Perm aged from 39 to 50 were detained. As of now, the court has remanded two of them in custody, two offenders have been put under house arrest, and one defendant has given a written undertaking not to leave. In the course of the searches, the police seized arms, ammunition, cash and forged documents of law enforcement officers from the suspects.
The Investigation Unit of the General Investigation Administration of the Russian MIA General Administration for the Primorsky Territory is investigating criminal cases on the facts of thefts. Policemen are currently checking the suspects for their involvement in other similar crimes perpetrated in the Primorsky Territory.
