Roads and Transport Policing officers are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision in Leyton.

On Thursday, 16 February police were called at approximately 12:35hrs to reports of a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian in Lea Bridge Road, at the junction with Northumberland Road, E10.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene and a 79-year-old man was taken to an east London hospital. He later died at 13:55hrs, next of kin have been informed.

Whilst officers believe they know who the deceased it they await formal.

A post-mortem will take place in due course.

The lorry stopped at the scene. The driver – a 44-year-old man – was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released on bail until a date in May.
